HgCdTe (MCT) Detectors

InfraRed Associates, Inc. offers a complete line of photoconductive Mercury Cadmium Telluride (HgCdTe) LN2 and TE cooled detectors. The wavelength response can be varied by adjusting the alloy composition of this ternary compound.

A bias voltage is required to operate these devices and an optimum value is determined to achieve the highest signal to noise ratio. InfraRed Associates, Inc. detectors are typically background noise limited in performance.

The response for our standard LN2 cooled and TE cooled MCT detectors are depicted in the following graph. The value of D* and responsivity are given for a 60 degree FOV. Values differ depending on element size and packaging.  Please see specification tables for data corresponding to your detector requirements.
